Sandyford Counselling Services

Sandyford provides counselling for women, men and young people within the Centre for Women’s Health, The Place and the Steve Retson Project, as well as within the Psychosexual Service, the Gender Clinic and the Mrs Brown Clinic (for termination of pregnancy).

Sandyford's counsellors come from a variety of orientations and backgrounds, and there are Person-Centred, psychodynamic, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural, humanistic and others within the group. Counsellors typically work within their own area but there is joint working and training currently developing. Sandyford has developed services that sometimes appear very specific, but are in fact often dealing with the same material as counsellors in other areas of the Trust, given the underlying reasons and origins of many people's emotional and mental distress.
